ASP.NET is a framework for generating web pages on demand, launched by Microsoft in July 20002 , and used to implement web applications3 . It is an evolution of Active Server Pages (ASP, a.k.a. Classic ASP), through which this technique was incorporated into the Microsoft .NET platform4.
The ASP.NET engine is a filter connected to the Internet Information Services (IIS) web server. It is distributed with the .NET framework. ASP.NET can be used with any programming language for the .NET platform (Visual Basic .NET, C#, JScript4…).
In this post I will explain you how to learn ASP.NET easily in 4 hours, I will try to be as clear as possible.
What is ASP.NET?
I think if you want to learn something you can call it ASP.NET. There are a bunch of books on ASP.NET. Actually, these books are called the ASP.NET books, but there are literally hundreds of them. There is a bookshelf that is comprised of books on the subject of ASP.NET. There are not really subcategories or subgenres of ASP.NET. The books are pretty random. It’s almost like the different books are trying to tell you something about the subject in general, but they may not make the connection. There are a bunch of common patterns and patterns for common tasks in software. There are also particular pattern and patterns that are specific to ASP.NET and that are specific to ASP.NET web applications. When I talk about ASP.NET, I am really talking about ASP.
To use the Visual Studio 2012 tutorial, you need to install all .NET Framework, ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF and Windows Communication Foundation. You can find this tutorial here on Microsoft’s official website, if you are interested in it. To install the templates and SDK, download it here. As you can see, Microsoft bundles the Visual Studio 2010, 2013 and 2015 free with Visual Studio 2012. If you use this feature, you can get the latest versions of ASP.NET at no additional cost. Go to http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads Click Install for Visual Studio Download the latest version of ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, MVC 5, Web API, Silverlight and Visual Studio 2012. You will receive a folder called Visual Studio Tools 2013 Update 1.
How to create a project
To start you will need to create a fresh ASP.NET MVC project Create a new folder and name it Project Find an empty web.config file and edit it as follow. I’m using MVC 6 And you will be able to see your project ready to run in http://localhost:3000 Now you have to download Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition and install it. Download the Visual Studio Tools for .NET online and run the installer With Visual Studio 2017 you will get the latest versions of Visual Studio and when it says Visual Studio 2017 , it is. The installation might take some time, and please be patient. You will see the following screens.
How to know the basics of ASP.NET
If you just want to learn and understand basic ASP.NET, you can try our free online course by Joerg Rießling. This course is an excellent introduction to the new ASP.NET framework. If you want to dig a bit deeper, you can get a free copy of “Creating ASP.NET Web Applications” from Microsoft or you can join an on-going MSDN conference training. One other option is to read books, especially “Creating ASP.NET Web Applications” by Ashwin Kamath, I like his style a lot. The next steps for ASP.NET 3 Right now, I am busy on the 3.5 branch of ASP.NET. ASP.NET 3.5 will focus on building Web-apps for the cloud. You will use Web API to connect the servers to Web UI. The major features added are Web Sockets, Web Pages and MVC (Model View Controller).
How to run a project
I will explain you how to run a project using Visual Studio 2012 If you want to learn something new, you need to have something to work on. So I will tell you, before you learn to use ASP.NET, you need to run a project using Visual Studio 2012. Why would you learn to run a project in Visual Studio 2012? I will explain you a little better. If you are a student or student assistant then I guess it is very beneficial to create a simple project and to help the student in it. If you are a Business Analyst then you may use the software of your profession in order to learn something new and to see how the software works. You may also use the software for better communication with your colleagues. If you have any special need than you can use any other tool, but let’s start with this one.
In this post you learned how to learn ASP.NET without spending a single cent on books, you learned about the libraries that are necessary to know ASP.NET and now you will start to read a lot of blogs and code from the ASP.NET Core and MVC repository on GitHub. You should read and to comment in this blog to let me know if you still have problems. You should also be following me on Twitter and/or LinkedIn because my new posts will be released there soon.
