I will explain in a few paragraphs how making podcasts can be interesting for yourself and others especially if you are a computer scientist (developers, SysAdmins, etc)
“I’ve never seen anyone’s life get better by complaining about reality, I’ve seen it get better by accepting reality as it is and then making personal decisions to make it better.”
What is podcasting?
An audio medium, similar to the written word, which the listener can download, listen to and use for informational or entertainment purposes. Podcasts can be created on an audio-based computer program (iPod, recordable CD-ROM, podcasting software). Or they can be created in a free or paid application on a digital audio-recording device (i.e., a digital audio recorder, digital audio player, MP3 player, etc.). Why Podcasting? In general, there are several factors which are driving the growth of the podcasting industry. Podcasting offers a low-cost, efficient, and immediate means of communicating and reaching a wide audience in the digital era.
Why should you make a podcast?
Making a podcast will give you an opportunity to tell your story or that of your organization to a new audience. You will make yourself more marketable by illustrating the unique nature of your organization and perhaps to even secure future business through one-to-one connections with listeners.

From finding the equipment to buying the software to interviewing the right people to producing and distributing the podcasts, there’s a lot to think about. But the good news is that you don’t have to take this on alone. You can now use the resources and know-how of the community and thousands of other enthusiastic people. So, what’s involved in making a podcast? How do you get started? What are the basic guidelines? How can you build a successful podcast? And how do you use this knowledge to produce a podcast that is successful?
How to become a podcast producer
Making podcasts is a great hobby to pick up for your daily podcast habit and I first began to keep a personal podcast more than 10 years ago, and was at a point of need at work. I was making a lot of mistakes, and was barely keeping my job. It was one of those times when you just want to get your frustrations out and no one was listening. Why didn’t anyone listen? And what I was not, or could not be an expert in every single system. What I did have is the knowledge of what I needed to do and the tools. After going through so many “sure-fire” solutions to getting better, I decided to just figure it out myself.
What are the benefits of podcasts?
1) They can help you network, sell products, raise money and gain more customers 2) Podcasts can help you learn about your audience to better understand them, which is the most important thing a marketer needs to do. Podcasts can help you figure out what to focus on by understanding your audience and understanding their wants and needs. They also can help you learn how to get them excited about your products and services. 3) You don’t need to spend a lot of money. A small investment, like a smart phone and a microphone, and you can start to get a podcast up and running. 4) If you are someone who is struggling to create a website or promote your products, you can use podcasting to help you out.
